| On Wednesday, August 12, firefighter Manas Puhan attended his official Firefighter 1 graduation in Valhalla, along with approximately 50 other firefighters from across the county. The ceremony was hosted by the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services. Firefighter Puhan received his New York State certification from DES Chief of Training Ward and was congratulated by Commissioner Spears. Assistant Chief O’Brien, Lieutenant Johannes Marselis, and FF O’Brien were also present to witness this great accomplishment. Congratulations Firefighter Puhan, may your training be continuous and never ended.
The Firefighter 1 program is the first step to becoming a New York State-certified firefighter. The program consists of 150 hours of comprehensive training, including basic, intermediate, and hazardous materials instruction over a four-month period.
