| The Montrose Fire Department recently participated in a community event held at the Cortlandt Train Station and Youth Center. The Town of Cortlandt Recreation Department invited the department to share fire prevention information with local residents. This year, Rescue 51 and Utility 68 were brought to the event as part of the display.
Children received coloring books and fire hats, and a hands-on demonstration was provided using the Bullex Fire Extinguisher prop. Firefighters taught both adults and children the proper technique to use an extinguisher, known as PASS—Pull, Aim, Squeeze, and Sweep. The interactive activity was well received by attendees, with many children enjoying the experience and learning valuable safety skills. Today we made a lot of Jr Firefighters.
The same evening, the Montrose Fire Department quickly transitioned from fire prevention to fire protection duties. Engine 123 and Mini Attack 25 were brought in to oversee fire safety during a fireworks show for the community. The fireworks display was provided by Garden State Firework Company, offering another enjoyable event for local residents.
Thank you to the Town of Cortlandt for the invite and for the community for visiting us and allowing us to provide you some fire prevention information. |
